Upleta Memon Jamat (Mumbai) Anual Prize Distribution

On the 29th of September, 2002, a function hoisted at Kesar Baug, Dongri, Mumbai, by The Upleta Memon Jamat, in which students who had stood first three in the primary school, first class in secondary school and outstanding students of the graduate, post graduate and diploma courses were awarded prizes.

Dr. Aslam A. Sivani, the chief guest from Sangli, addressing the students laid out the importance of education, he also thanked the Upleta Memon Jamat.

The chairperson of the Upleta Memon Jamat Ladies Wing, Rukhsana Nagodia, said that this Jamat was established in the year 1992. She also mentioned the fact that ever since the Ladies Wing was formed in 1997, when Mr. Latif Hakam was the president, she has been the chairperson, and always available at hand for anything that may require her services. Each year such function should be organized, in doing so would show the students the path of prosperity and push them ahead in life. The Jamat has always been and will be helpful and stood foremost in providing help to needy students.

The President of the function, Dr. Abdul Rauf Sumar (President, Cutchi Memon Jamat) thanked the committee for his invitation and said that we are differentiating ourselves by identities unnecessarily but also said that he was happy the way we were putting emphasis on education, which will ultimately bring up the community. Lack of education derails the behavior of the community as a whole, while the progress of the community and the country depends on it.

The president of the Jamat Mr. Latif Hakam congratulated the brilliant students present and counseled them to work more hard than ever before. He said that since technology has advanced so far, we need to put more efforts to succeed since it is now a fact that only those who are practical and put in extraordinary amounts of efforts excel. He concluded on a beautiful note saying that he prayed that along with the educational skills of the world, the children also excel in 'deeni ta'alim'. Insha-allah.
