First International Memon Convention concludes amidst success and fanfare on 28th April 2001 and 29th April 2001, Saturday And Sunday. International Memon Convention was organized for the first time in Dubai where nearly 250 delegates attended the meet from all over the world to make this an absolute successful event.

Delegates that had come from Canada, UK, USA, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Portugal, Zimbabwe, Japan, Russia, UAE, India and Pakistan attended the event with a lot of vigor and enthusiasm. The excellent management of the whole event helped in making the International Memon Convention a success.

For this event a 'Supreme Council' was formed headed by Chairperson Mr. Abdul Razzak Yakub from Dubai, members as Mr. Aboobakar Cassim from Dubai, Mr. Latif Ebrahim Jamal from Pakistan, Mr. Razzak Sorathia Tastee from Pakistan and Mr. Adam Noor from Bombay.

A Steering Committee was decided to be formed in which 9 members from India, 7 from Pakistan, 6 from UK, 6 from South Africa, 3 from USA, 2 each from Sri Lanka & Dubai and apart from that one member from every country where Memons reside. For this worldwide committee, a new name and foundation needs to be prepared before Ramadan. A second meeting in Dubai was decided, which would lay the foundation, thereafter, another International Memon Convention after Ramadan would be called and in that meeting this foundation and all other formalities of this new organization would be finalized.
